An investigation is under way following an armed robbery on Grange Road, Baldoyle in north Co Dublin.

Two men entered a premises at around 4.30pm, armed with what was believed to be a firearm and threatened staff.

They left with a sum of money and got into a grey coloured car.

In a statement, gardaí say they responded to an emergency call about the robbery and saw the car leaving the scene.

Gardaí followed the the car, which later crashed on Priorswood Road in Dublin 17.

No one was injured during the robbery or the subsequent pursuit.

Gardaí seized a firearm as well as cash from the robbery.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and is being held at Raheny Garda Station.
