An appeal for information has been issued in relation to a third vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal shooting that happened at a house in Ballyfermot in Dublin yesterday morning.
The 55-year-old victim - named as Thomas McCarthy – received a number of gunshot wounds at Croftwood Park and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had lived in England for years but was home around a week.
Gardaí investigating the shooting said they are trying to establish the movements of a black Toyota Avensis - registration number 10-D-123251 - which was sighted in the vicinity of Woodford Walk between 10.57am and 11.06am yesterday.
The car was later discovered burnt out on Peamount Road, Newcastle, Co Dublin.
So far, two cars are thought to have been used in the attack, a blue Ford Fiesta and a Skoda Octavia.
The Ford Fiesta was found burnt out in nearby Le Fanu Drive, while the Skoda appears to have been set on fire in the Monksfield area of Clondalkin.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen the Toyota Avensis between 10am and 9.30pm yesterday or who may have any information in relation to this vehicle to contact Ballyfermot station on 01 666 7200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
