Gardaí have seized two horses that were found wandering a street in Dublin city centre.

The horses are believed to have been left unattended at the Royal Canal in Drumcondra on Friday. They were later caught roaming Dorset Street by gardaí.

The animals were scanned, and no microchips were found.

A vet inspected the horses, with the younger animal discovered to be very unwell. It is receiving treatment.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Bridewell Garda Station on 01- 6668200.
