The body of a fisherman who was reported missing last night in Co Waterford was found this morning in the river Blackwater.
The man, aged in his 50s and understood to be local, had been fishing near Ballyduff yesterday evening.
When he did not meet up with a companion at about 8.30pm as planned, the alarm was raised.
A search operation was mounted involving the Blackwater Sub Aqua Club and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association from Fermoy, as well as local gardaí and others in the area.
The CoastGuard Rescue 117 helicopter was also sent to the scene at around midnight and searched the area for a number of hours.
Divers from the sub-aqua club found the man's body in about three metres of water. The body was removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination.
