RTÉ has said that a member of staff has tested positive for Covid-19.

In an email to staff, RTÉ's Director General, Dee Forbes, said the staff member was safe and at home. They are following the HSE guidelines of self isolation.

RTÉ says in line with HSE guidelines, Public Health Services will be in contact with those individuals who have had direct contact with the person who has tested positive.

Other recommended procedures are being followed, including a deep cleaning of the areas where the person works – and RTÉ says it will continue to take all necessary steps to prioritise health and welfare as it works to provide vital news information and entertainment to the public in Ireland.

Around 80% of cases of Covid-19 will be a mild to moderate illness, close to 14% have severe disease and around 6% are critical.

Generally, a person needs to be 15 minutes or more in the vicinity of an infected person, within 1-2 metres, to be considered at-risk or a close contact.
