Hundreds of Opel Insignia cars across the country have been recalled due to a potential fire risk.

The voluntary recall, issued by Leeson Motors Limited, affects 386 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland which were manufactured between July 2016 and November 2018.

The issue relates to vehicles' fuel hose, which the company says may become damaged when in contact with a support bracket.

It says that as a result, fuel may leak out, giving rise to a risk of fire.

The company says it will directly contact all affected customers, advising them to make an appointment with their local Opel dealer where any necessary repairs will be carried out.

Drivers who believe their vehicle may be impacted can contact Opel on 01 533 9818.
