A man in his 20s is being treated in hospital after a shooting in the North Strand area in Dublin. 

The incident happened at around 6.45am. 

Gardaí arrived at a flat on North Strand Road where members of the Dublin Fire Brigade were treating the man for a suspected gunshot wound. 

He was taken to the Mater Hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The scene has been preserved and a forensic and technical examination is due to take place. 

No arrests have been made.
