It is understood that gardaí investigating the abduction and assault on Quinn Industrial Holdings director Kevin Lunney last month have found a van in Duleek, Co Meath, believed to be connected to the attack.

Gardaí had made an appeal for information on the whereabouts of a white hi-roof transit type van following the attack on 17 September.

The discovery of the van, believed to be one gardaí were trying to locate, is seen as a significant investigative breakthrough.

Investigations are ongoing and gardaí say they will not be commenting on this latest development.

Kevin Lunney was abducted from his car about 500 metres from his home in Co Fermanagh.

He was discovered on a roadway in Co Cavan two and a half hours after his abduction.

He had been very badly beaten. His leg was broken and he had suffered a number of slashes inflicted with a knife.
