75,000 people are expected to attend this year's Slane Concert which is being headlined by heavy metal Metallica in just over a week, on Saturday 8 June.
Chief Superintendent Fergus Healy says gardaí have a robust traffic plan in place with 400 officers on duty for the event.
He says concert goers will be subject to airport style searches on their way into the event.
The village will be completely closed down from 10am on the morning of the concert.
Doors will be open at 2pm and Metallica will take to the stage at 8pm.
Lord Henry Mountcharles who owns Slane Castle has said he's excited about the concert.
"Slane will definitely rock on June 8th" he said.
He says there's been huge overseas interest in the Slane concert but "this year it appears to have taken a jump" he said.
Over 10% of the tickets sold were to overseas visitors with a lot of people coming from the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Brazil.
"It's lovely to see that there will be a wide reach of people coming to see Metallica down by the banks of the River Boyne," he added.
The Slane concert is worth around €41 million to the local economy.
He also urged people to respect the area and the people who live there and appealed to people to keep away from the River Boyne.
Concert goers are advised to travel to the event by bus and follow the designated routes, to ensure people get to the show on time.

Tickets are still on sale for the event.
The concert has sparked lots of interest from the local community and pupils from Slane National School have even composed their own version of one of Metallica's biggest hits 'Nothing Else matters'.
