More than €165 million worth of trafficked medicines have been seized and 435 people arrested in a Europe-wide operation coordinated by Europol.
Law enforcement, customs and health regulatory authorities from 16 countries in Europe - including Ireland - were involved.
The seizures were part of operation MISMED 2 targeting the illicit trafficking of misused medicines.
Twenty four organised crimes groups were "disrupted" and criminal assets worth €3.2 million were recovered, as well as 1.8 tonnes of medicines.
