Gardaí have issued a warning about a potential rental scam that is in operation.
It comes after people received unsolicited emails from an individual claiming to be an "Inspector Andrew Cullen" of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau.
Gardaí say there is no such member of the force and that these emails are not official and appear to be part of a rental scam.
It is understood the emails are designed to deceive people into handing over deposits for rental properties.
Gardaí say anyone who has concerns about unsolicited emails or other correspondence received from An Garda Síochána, should contact their local Garda Station to verify their authenticity.
They say An Garda Síochána will never ask for any personal or banking information through emails or over the phone.
