A man in his 40s has died and a woman and child were injured in a two-car collision in Co Laois.
The crash occurred on the N80 on Simmons Mill Cross Road at around 9am.
The driver of one of the cars was killed.
The woman and her child, who were in the other car, received minor injuries and are being treated at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise and at Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin.
The road has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
Separately, a woman was killed in a three car collision in Co Roscommon.
