Fianna Fáil has closed the gap on Fine Gael in the wake of the budget, the latest Sunday Business Post Red C poll has suggested. 

The poll also suggests that no immediate damage was done to the Government in the wake of former minister Denis Naughten's resignation. 

The poll suggests Fianna Fáil has gained 3 points, putting its support level at 25%. 

Fine Gael is unchanged on 33%. 

Sinn Féin is up 1 point to 15%, while Labour is down 1 point to 5%.

Independents are down 1 point to 12%, while the Independent Alliance is unchanged on 4%. 

The Green Party is up 2 points to 4%, while the Social Democrats are down 2 points to 2%.

Solidarity-People Before Profit are down 2 points to zero, while Renua are also on zero. 

The poll was taken between Thursday 11 October and Wednesday 17 October. 

It compares to the last poll published on 16 September.

The margin of error is plus or minus 3%.
