Several thousand people have taken part in the 7th Annual March for Choice in Dublin city centre today.

The march was the first to be held by the Abortion Rights Campaign since Ireland voted by a 66.4% majority to repeal the 8th Amendment in May.

The theme of this year's march was "Free Safe Legal".

Organisers called for proper abortion care in Ireland to be made available to all who need it.

Speaking at the event, Minister for Health Simon Harris said that Ireland needs to keep focus on the issue and that there is a huge body of work that still needs to be done.

He said that abortion still needs to be made a legal and a clinical reality.
