Swimmer taken from the sea off Kinsale

A swimmer was taken from the sea at Sandycove Island near Kinsale in County Cork and is receiving medical attention.

The alarm was raised at 6pm.

It is understood the man may have suffered a heart attack while in the water.

The emergency services, including the Coast Guard helicopter from Waterford, as well as the RNLI lifeboat based in Kinsale were called to the scene.
