A man in his 60s has been killed in a road crash in Co Cork.

He was the driver of a car that was involved in a three-car collision on the N22 at Carrigaphooca near Macroom.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 1pm this afternoon where the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of a second car, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured and he was air-lifted to University Hospital Cork.

The people in the third car were uninjured.

Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the crash site and local diversions are in place.
