The Medical Council inquiry into the care of baby Mark Molloy and a registrar at Portlaoise Hospital has retired to start deliberations on 24 April.

It will consider seven allegations against Dr A.

Baby Mark died on 24 January 2012 shortly after birth.

It is alleged Dr A failed to properly review the CTG machine, which records the fetal heartbeat and that he failed to interpret it as abnormal.

Dr A has denied the allegations and is representing himself.

A ruling is expected on the evening of 24 April.

The hearings ended today after about 12 days.
