There are 330 patients on trolleys in hospital emergency departments today, according to the HSE’s own TrolleyGar figures.

The figure represents a small increase on the same day last year.

The hospital worst affected today is Cork University Hospital with 41 patients waiting.

Other hospitals badly affected include Limerick with 27 patients and Waterford with 21.

There were 39 patients waiting over nine hours in hospital emergency departments.

There were nine children waiting at some of the children’s hospitals in Dublin, with four children waiting over nine hours.

The HSE figures were compiled at 8am.

INMO figures, which also include patients placed on wards, waiting for admission to a bed, are not collected at weekends.
