The German pilots' union has said the threat of strike action remains at Ryanair following a meeting with the company in Dublin.

Delegates from the Vereinigung Cockpit airline association flew in from Germany for a meeting to discuss Ryanair's offer of union recognition.

Leaving the meeting, James Philips of VC said there were a number of outstanding issues.

He said the union wanted to talk to its members before making any further comments and it would make a statement tomorrow morning.

Earlier, Mr Phillips said they would not take industrial action if Ryanair management continued in good faith, but he said there was a lot of anger and frustration among members.

Ryanair's Chief People Officer Eddie Wilson said they had a good productive meeting and they were available to do business. He said they hope to meet again in early January.

Mr Wilson said VC gave them a document which they are going to respond to at the end of the week.

Regarding framework proposals in the negotiating process with the IMPACT trade union, to which the union sought a response by midday tomorrow,  Mr Wilson said Ryanair made the decision to recognise unions last Friday.

Mr Wilson said they will respond comprehensively to IMPACT tomorrow.

Mr Wilson added they were unable to meet with the Ryanair pilots council because one of the members is not a Ryanair pilot and is currently in litigation with the company.
