An investigation is under way into a robbery in Dublin, in which a cash-in-transit security guard was forced to hand over a cash box.
The security guard was making a cash delivery to a bank in Raheny village just after midday when he was approached by a man armed with what was described as a hammer.
The security guard was forced to hand over a cash box, before the man left the scene in a Renault Megane, which was driven by another man.
A short time later the car rammed a garda car on the Clontarf Road, before being later found abandoned on La Vista Avenue in Clontarf.
Gardaí recovered the cash box in the car.
No arrests have been made and gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Raheny Garda Station on 01 666 4300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
In particular, they are appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in Raheny village and La Vista Avenue in Clontarf between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
