Four men arrested earlier this week in connection with a garda investigation into organised crime in Dublin have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The men were arrested during a major garda operation in the north inner city last Monday in which a gun and a silencer were seized.

They are due to appear in court tomorrow.

The four men, three in their 30s and one in his 20s, were charged last night following consultations with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

They were arrested last Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into the Hutch-Kinahan feud whereby gardaí say they intervened because they believed a man's life was in imminent danger.

Two men were arrested after a car was forced to stop in Marino in north Dublin city and a loaded beretta pistol and silencer were recovered.

Two others were arrested on the south side a short time later.

The four were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and two of them were also charged with possession of firearms.

All four men are being detained pending their appearances before the Dublin District Court tomorrow morning.
