Two gardaí were hospitalised following an assault by a man on Sheriff Street Lower in Dublin.
A 25-year-old man was arrested following the assault.
Gardaí from the Community Policing unit attached to Store St Garda Station had stopped and searched the man on Sheriff Street Lower.
During the course of the search the man reportedly became aggressive and assaulted the two gardaí.
They were taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and have since been released.
The man was arrested and is being detained at Store St Garda Station.
A quantity of tablets was seized and are currently the subject of analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
