Evidence is continuing in the trial of a US woman and her father who are accused of murdering her Irish husband in North Carolina two years ago.

Molly Martens Corbett, 33, and 67-year-old Thomas Martens are accused of killing 39-year-old Jason Corbett, who was from Co Limerick.

Both are charged with second degree murder for their role in causing the death of the 39-year-old at his home in Wallburg on 2 August 2015.

Lt Frank Young, of the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, today continued his testimony regarding evidence he collected from the Corbett residence.

He presented an aluminum baseball bat and paving brick to the jury and showed them other evidence including clothing and a watch.

He testified that he and a colleague collected DNA swabs from Mr Martens and Ms Martens Corbett at the back of the residence the morning Mr Corbett was killed. Those items were admitted into evidence.

On cross-examination, Lt Young said he saw a hair in Mr Corbett's hand that was not entered into evidence.

The defence then entered another exhibit into evidence, a photograph taken by Lt Young which he said showed the hair in Mr Corbett's hand.

An attorney representing Ms Martens Corbett asked questions on why crime-scene investigators did not more diligently pursue accusations by Ms Martens of strangulation.

But Lt Young was prohibited from answering many of the questions due to objections by the prosecution.

The trial continues.
