A man has been arrested by gardaí investigating a fatal crash in Co Tipperary.

A 68-year-old man died following the suspected hit-and-run at Poynestown, Glengoole in Thurles at around 10.20pm last night.

Gardaí said the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

A man in his 40s was arrested this afternoon and is being detained at Thurles Garda Station.
