A man has died after a car crash in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The man, who is believed to have been in his late 30s or early 40s, was a passenger in a taxi which was in collision with another car.

The incident happened at Summerhill Parade, Dublin 1, at 1.40am.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the taxi was treated at The Mater Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the other car was not injured.

A forensic investigation took place but the road has since reopened.
