An Irishman has reportedly been stabbed repeatedly in a popular Algarve tourist resort in Portugal.
The victim is said to have been attacked by two men in the resort of Praia da Rocha near Portimao just after 5am on Sunday.
He is reported to have been taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to São José Hospital in the capital Lisbon.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is aware of the case and stands ready to provide assistance if requested.
