Over 150,000 people have taken part in the Darkness into Light suicide awareness walks around the country.
They set off at 4.15am on a five kilometre route with the largest gathering in the Phoenix Park in Dublin where some 12,000 people took part in the event.
Darkness into Light first began in Ireland in 2009 when 400 people walked in the Phoenix Park.

Today over 150,000 people walked into the morning sun carrying a message of hope at 120 locations nationwide.
The event in Ireland is organised by Pieta House.
Since it began in the Phoenix Park in 2009, Darkness Into Light has grown into a global movement against suicide. It kicked off in New Zealand today and ends with walks in Vancouver and San Francisco.
