A man charged with murder who went on the run after being released accidentally has been rearrested in Northern Ireland.
Michael Smith, 38, of Ardmonagh Gardens, Belfast, was on remand in the high-security Maghaberry Prison when he was released mistakenly a month ago.
He was arrested in the Carryduff area of Co Down yesterday.
Mr Smith is charged with the murder of Belfast man Stephen Carson, who was shot dead in his home in front of his nine-year-old son and partner in February 2016.
PSNI have tonight arrested missing prisoner Michael Smith in the Carryduff area. We would like to thank the public for their help in this.
