A crew member of a Russian fishing trawler, located over 300km off the Mayo Coast, was brought to shore for medical attention overnight.
An alert was received around midnight and coastguard helicopters from Dublin and Sligo were involved in transporting the man to Sligo, where he was brought to Sligo University Hospital.
His injuries are not yet known.
The trawler was north to north west of Achill when the alert was received.
