Dr TK Whitaker: A century of public service

Some of Dr Whitaker's grandchildren read prayers and readings at the mass.
Chief Celebrant Fr Lomán Mac Aodha said Dr Whitaker was a religious man and a daily mass goer for more than 70 years.

Fr Mac Aodha said Dr Whitaker always had a mischievous grin and a deep sense of thanksgiving despite many setbacks.
He said that Dr Whitaker perfected the art of growing old and had a way of being joyful and hopeful, and wanted to be remembered as a civil servant who did his best.
He was also a man who rolled up his intellectual sleeves to help the people and the country he so loved, Fr Mac Aodha said.
