The charity Goal is seeking up to 25 redundancies in its Dublin and London offices.

In a statement, Goal said the move "reflects a much tighter funding environment" in 2017.

Staff were officially informed of the redundancy proposals in writing by management yesterday.

A two-week voluntary redundancy period has been opened to avoid compulsory redundancies.

Those who decide to take voluntary redundancy will be entitled to a statutory redundancy package.

General Manager of Goal Celine Fitzgerald said the charity needs "to develop a more sustainable cost base to support our ongoing humanitarian relief efforts and regrettably, this is likely to involve some redundancies".
