Island Ferries has said it will continue to provide a ferry service to and from the Aran Islands after agreement was reached in a dispute with Galway County Council.
Ferry services to the island had been due to cease from 4 January, but the company has said services will continue uninterrupted after that date.
The dispute with the local authority was due to passenger levies imposed after works were carried out to improve the harbour at Cíll Rónáin on Inis Mór.
However, in a statement Island Ferries said progress was made during recent talks with council officials.
The statement added that revised proposals were passed by councillors at a meeting earlier this week.
The dispute had seen ferry services from Ros a Mhíl to Inis Mór temporarily suspended before they were resumed this month as a gesture of goodwill.
