The chair of the Fianna Fáil Dublin Central constituency organisation has said it will be up to former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern whether or not he wants to rejoin the party.
Brian Mahon said a motion had been passed this evening after a long discussion to invite Mr Ahern to rejoin Fianna Fáil.
He said he would be informing party headquarters of their decision.
Mr Mahon added that it was his understanding that it was up to Mr Ahern to reply to them and fill out a form.
Mr Ahern resigned from the party in 2012 ahead of a meeting of the Fianna Fáil National Executive to consider expelling him, following the publication of the final report of the Mahon Tribunal.
