Mid Galway Water Scheme

Irish Water has issued advice on water preparation:

Water must be boiled for drinking, drinks made with water, preparing salads and any foods not cooked prior to eating, brushing teeth, and making ice. Ice in the freezer should be discarded.

Infant feeds should be prepared with tap water that has been boiled once and allowed to cool.

If bottled water is used for the preparation of infant feeds it should be boiled once and cooled. Parents should note that some natural mineral water may have high sodium content.

It is safe to use water for bathing and flushing toilets.

Water should be prepared by bringing it to a vigorous, rolling boil and allowing it to cool.

It should then be covered and stored in a fridge or somewhere cold.
