Goal has announced the appointment of Celine Fitzgerald as general manager at the international aid agency.
During Ms Fitzgerald’s one-year fixed-term contract a competitive selection process will be held to appoint a new CEO to replace Barry Andrews, who confirmed last week he was stepping down at the end of the year.
Mr Andrews said he made the decision following "a tough few months" for the charity, after the US Office of the Inspector General launched an inquiry into alleged supply chain irregularities relating to US-sponsored aid programmes in Syria.
Furthermore, the Department of Foreign Affairs has withheld €10.1m funding as the investigation into procurement practices continues.
Ms Fitzgerald joins the charity from her own consulting business, Integro Consulting, where she served as managing director for the past four years.
Ms Fitzgerald currently sits as a non-executive director on the boards of VHI and Ervia.
