A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following an incident at the Taoiseach's constituency office in Castlebar, Co Mayo, today.

A woman in her 50s was arrested after slogans relating to the ongoing crisis in Syria were painted on the external walls of the building on Tucker Street.

Enda Kenny was not in the office at the time.

The phrases "How many more children Enda" and "Represent Me" were painted on the front of the building.

A number of red handprints were left on the wall and a section close to the entrance was daubed with red paint.

Gardaí were called to the scene

The woman was detained for a number of hours at Castlebar Garda Station before being released this afternoon.

A forensic examination of the scene was carried out after the incident.

Staff at the Taoiseach's office removed the slogans from the building this afternoon.
