A 16-year-old girl has died and two other teenagers have been seriously injured after a single vehicle crash in Co Waterford.
Katie Murphy from Ballinamona in Waterford was a rear seat passenger in the car that hit a wall on the Cliff Road, Tramore at 8.20pm last night.
The fifth year student at the Ursuline school in the city was brought to University Hospital Waterford where she later died. A post-mortem examination will be carried out.
Katie was out yesterday evening with friends, three of whom were in the car when it crashed at the entrance to an estate.
This afternoon, relatives and friends described her as beautiful and much-loved.
A 17-year-old male, who was in the front passenger seat, was critically injured and is in intensive care in hospital.
The male driver of the car, also 17, was not seriously injured and has been discharged from hospital.
The fourth person in the car - a 17-year-old female - was seriously injured and remains in hospital but is not critical.
Gardaí said they would not comment as the investigation is ongoing.
