Talks on Dublin Bus to resume at WRC

Talks have been taking place at the Workplace Relations Commission following six days of strike action

Talks between Dublin Bus management and unions aimed at ending a dispute which has already seen six days of strikes have adjourned and negotiating teams are due back at the Workplace Relations Commission at 11am tomorrow.

Unions have deferred two days of stoppages planned for today and tomorrow while the talks take place.

It comes after management dropped their pre-condition that increased productivity had to be part of any pay rise in excess of the 8.25% recommended by the Labour Court.

Unions are looking for 15% and want some improvement on the Labour Court recommendation before discussing productivity.

Today's talks began amid concerns at the dispute spreading to other transport unions, Dublin retailers losing up to 60% of trade and industrial action set to affect Saturday's All-Ireland final replay.

Between loss of revenue to Dublin Bus and loss of trade in the city it is estimated the dispute has cost at least €21m so far.
