All five young offenders who escaped from a detention centre in north Dublin have been apprehended, gardaí have said.

The boys, aged between 15 and 17, left the centre at Oberstown armed with bats and golf clubs shortly after 6pm last night.

The garda air and dog unit were involved in the search. Local gardaí were also involved in the operation.

All five teenagers were found and returned to the detention centre last night.

The campus currently caters for 48 residents under the age of 18, including young offenders and criminals with multiple convictions for serious offences.
