A motion to establish a Citizens' Assembly to deal with the Eighth Amendment has been passed by the Dáil.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal Damien English said the assembly is expected to be up and running by October.
Social Democrat TD Róisín Shortall said she was concerned about the proposed timeframe, adding that the issue of the Eighth Amendment could be pushed out for another two years.
