Former Taoiseach John A Costello was commemorated at Deansgrange cemetery to mark his 125th birthday.
He was born on 20 June 1891 in Dublin and died in January 1976 aged 84.
Among those in attendance were members of the Costello family, Minister for Jobs Mary Mitchell O'Connor and representatives from the worlds of law and politics.
During the event a commemoration was read by David McCullagh, author of The Reluctant Taoiseach; a biography of John A Costello.
Costello graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in modern languages and law before studying at King's Inn to become a barrister.
He won the Victoria prize there in 1913 and 1914.
