Fire service personnel have brought a blaze at an unoccupied hotel in Salthill under control.
The fire at the Sacre Coeur Hotel broke out before 7pm this evening.
Units from across Galway attended the scene and roads around the hotel were closed to traffic.
The building has been lying idle for over a decade.
Gardaí believe there was nobody in the premises when the fire started.
A technical examination will be carried out to identify the exact cause of the blaze.
Traffic access to Salthill is still restricted but routes are expected to reopen shortly.
