Brennans Bakeries has issued a recall of approximately 100,000 pans of the Brennans Family Pan 800g (Best Before Date 20 May 2016) Code 18.
It is estimated between 10 and 15 loaves of bread may contain small pieces of laminated paper.
The bakery said there is no risk to consumers who may have already consumed the bread but the company is taking the step of recalling the product. Only Brennans Family Pans 800g with this date code are affected, no other Brennans products are involved.
Any potentially affected packs have already been removed from the supermarket shelves.
Anyone in possession of Brennans Family Pan 800g Best Before Date 20 May Code 18 can, if they wish, return the product to their local retailer for a refund or they can send the empty packaging with their name and address for a full refund to: Joseph Brennan Bakeries, Greenhills Industrial Estate, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.
Consumers can also contact the bakery at 01-4608400 (9am - 5pm) for more information or email email@example.com.
A spokesperson for the company has said the numbers applying for a refund are very small.
The company has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the recall but said it believes it is the best course of action, however slight the risk might be.
