Russia will complete the withdrawal of most of its military contingent in Syria in two to three days, according to Russian Air Force Commander Viktor Bondarev.
Yesterday, Russia's Defence Ministry said it had registered ten ceasefire violations in Syria over the previous 24 hours.
According to RIA news agency, four violations were registered in the province of Aleppo, three in Latakia and one each in Idlib, Homs and Hama.
US Secretary of State John Kerry told Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the need for progress toward political transition in Syria is urgent.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining the cessation of hostilities, the US State Department said.
Mr Kerry's phone call with Mr Lavrov yesterday followed a call between President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin and came ahead of Mr Kerry's trip to Moscow next week, the department said in a statement.
