Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster is to attend an event in Dublin this week which will mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Ms Foster, the Democratic Unionist Party leader since December, has previously said she would not attend any commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the Rising.

The event, which will discuss the historic impact of the rebellion, is being organised by the Church of Ireland and is to be held in Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin tomorrow evening.

Ms Foster said: "The event is not a commemoration of the events of Dublin in 1916 but is in line with the type of event I indicated I would be happy to attend."
