Seven people have been killed after a freight train crashed into a car that had become stranded on the tracks in southern Chile, officials said.
Police said five adults and two children, all occupants of the vehicle, were killed in the accident in Chile's Maule region, some 260km south of Santiago.
Authorities said that in addition to the dead, one young child was seriously injured and is being treated in hospital.
There were no casualties reported on board the train, officials said.
