A 15-year-old boy who had a double lung transplant in England on Christmas Eve has returned home.
Dean O'Connor was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was seven weeks old.
Prior to his operation, the teenager from Leixlip in Co Kildare had 29% lung function.
Following the operation he spent Christmas Day and the following days recuperating, but has improved greatly in recent weeks.
His mother Yvonne O'Connor has urged everyone to carry a donor card in the wake of the successful operation.
Speaking at Dublin Airport, Brian O'Connor said the transplant is a new lease of life for his son.
Mr O'Connor said it is brilliant even for Dean to walk off the plane.
Meanwhile, Dean has said it has been a month of waiting to get home and he is looking forward to sleeping in his own bed again.
He added that it will be like Christmas all over again as he still has presents to open.
