County Councillors in Donegal have unanimously passed a motion calling for the resignation of Councillor John O'Donnell at an emergency meeting.
The emergency meeting was called following the broadcast of the RTÉ Investigates - Standards in Public Office programme on Monday.
In the programme Cllr O'Donnell was secretly recorded saying he would be willing to work with a ficticious company to help develop a wind farm.
Mr O'Donnell, who did not attend the meeting, has denied any wrongdoing. Donegal County Council has launched an investigation into the contents of the programme.
Councillors from Sinn Féin, Fine Gael and the Labour Party and Independent members called on the Independent councillor to resign. Fianna Fáil also said his position was untenable.
The motion was passed unanimously without a vote.
Members of the council said they were shocked, saddened and angered at what they had seen in the programme.
Individual councillors also denied that they were among the 25 to 30 councillors that Mr O'Donnell referred to in the programme as having the backing of.
