Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has said the party's ard fheis will not take place before the general election.
Mr Adams said the party had met with RTÉ on the issue.
He said there were a series of ard fheiseanna and the date that had been offered to Sinn Féin was not suitable.
He also pointed to the elections in the North in May which he said would have its effect.
Mr Adams said the party would have a 1916 conference in Dublin in early January.
He added that RTÉ had advised Sinn Féin that if it set a date for the ard fheis and the election was called the ard fheis would not get coverage.
He said during an election campaign arguably "the last place you want to be is at an ard fheis, you want to be out there talking".
