Prospective voters have been warned that they have until Wednesday 25 November to get on the draft register to vote in 2016.
Vincent Norton, an executive manager with Dublin City Council, has urged voters to check the register of electors online at checktheregister.ie and make sure their details are up to date.
Mr Norton said there is no opportunity to get on the register between 25 November and 15 February.
However, in the event there is an election, people who are not on the draft register will have an opportunity to get on the supplementary register.
Mr Norton added that details can also be checked at the library, post office or at county council offices.
Speaking to RTÉ's News at One, he said no one is ever removed from a register unless the information is verified with the household they are registered at.
